Airbus A330-200 - bmi British Midland

Until the takeover by British Airways in 2012, bmi British Midland was one of Britain's biggest independent airlines. The airline was formerly known as Derby Aviation and Derby Airways until it became British Midland Airways (BMA) in 1964. In 2001 the name bmi British Midland was adopted.

For many years the airline operated mainly European flights from several points in Britain, including London Heathrow and East Midlands Airport. The airline started intercontinental services from Manchester with Airbus A330-200 aircraft, of which the first was delivered in May 2003. Later it also started flights with the A330 from London Heathrow. In 2008 bmi stopped the longhaul flights from Manchester and the two A330s in service then were moved to Heathrow. Until the takeover by BA bmi flew a total of three A330s.

Both pictures are taken at Manchester Airport. The photograph below shows one of the A330s in Star Alliance livery.
