Airbus A340 - Aerolíneas Argentinas
In 1949 four Argentinian airlines merged and formed Aerolíneas Argentinas-Empresa del Estado, commonly known as Aerolíneas Argentinas, or just Aerolíneas. The airline started operations in late 1950. Today it is the largest airline of Argentina and its main bases are Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (domestic and regional flights) and Ministro Pistarini International Airport (mainly international services), both serving Buenos Aires.
Aerolíneas became a widebody operator in december 1976 with the delivery of its first Boeing 747-200. The airline also operated the Airbus A310 and today the A340 is the only widebody type in the fleet. Aerolíneas Argentinas is one of a small number of airlines flying the Airbus A340-200. This version has a shorter body but offers more range than the -300. The aircraft on the photograph is taxiing at Miami International Airport.
