Boeing 767-200ER - Avianca

Avianca, the national airline of Colombia, is one of the oldest airlines in the world, although it doesn't operate any more under its original name. The airline was founded in 1919 in Barranquila as Sociedad Colombo-Alemana de Transporte Aéreo, SCADTA (Colombian-German Society for Air Transportation). In 1940 SCADTA merged with SACO (Servicio Aéreo Colombiano) and the result was named Avianca (Aerovías Nacionales de Colombia). The name was later changed to Aerovias del Continente Americano, but the name Avianca remained.

Avianca became a widebody operator in 1976 when it started operating its first Jumbo Jet, a Boeing 747-100. The first 767, a 767-200ER, was introduced in 1990 and the first 767-300ER in 2004. Avianca operated three 767-200ERs and five 767-300ERs. The last 767-200ER left active service with Avianca in 2011. The last 767-300 was retired in early 2012. Tje 767s have been replaced by Airbus A330s.

The Avianca aircraft wear a beautiful livery, which is shown on the picture by a Boeing 767-200ER of the airline which is landing at Miami International Airport. The old livery, shown on the photo below, was also very attractive.
