Lockheed L-1011 TriStar - Air Lanka
Air Lanka started flying in 1979, taking over routes from Air Ceylon. In 1980 it introduced its first TriStar to replace the Boeing 707 on long-haul services. Air Lanka operated a total of five Lockheed TriStars, new from the factory. Two of the aircraft were of the short-body TriStar-500 version.
In 1999 the airline changed its name to SriLankan Airlines. The TriStars were replaced since then by Airbus A330s and A340s. The aircraft on the picture is seen while taking off from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
