Airbus A380 Singapore Airlines

Airbus A380 Singapore Airlines

Airbus A380-800 (A380-861) - Singapore Airlines - 9V-SKF (MSN 12) - Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport (FRA) - August 2015.

Singapore Airlines was the first operator of the Airbus A380. It received its first megajet on October 15, 2007, and ten days later, it operated the first commercial flight with its acquisition, from Singapore to Sydney.
br> Singapore Airlines took delivery of 24 Airbus A380s. Airbus handed over A380 MSN 12 to Singapore Airlines Airways in September 2008 as 9V-SKF. In 2021, 17 aircraft are still part f the fleet, although they were all parked because of the corona pandemic. The airline began returning aircraft to its fleet in late 2021, initially on regional flights, but from November 18, 2021, also on its Singapore-London Heathrow service.

In 2017 and 2018, Singapore Airlines began withdrawing aircraft from service. Those aircraft were the earliest A380s built and not yet on the A380 production standard. So they were heavier than later aircraft and less efficient. One ex-Singapore Airlines aircraft, 9V-SKC (MSN 006), became part of the fleet of Hi Fly Malta. This carrier operated them on behalf of Norwegian Airlines and .... It was painted in a special "Save the Coral Reefs" livery. In June 2020, the airline was reconfigured as 'Preighter' for carrying cargo insteasd of passengers. Hi Fly returned the aircraft to its lessor in December 2020. Since then, the aircraft is stored. Some of the ex-SIA aircraft have been dismantled, others are still stored.
